BHE Background & Experience CV for BRENT HANSEN, President of Brent Hansen Environmental Brent Hansen was born and raised on a farm between Brandon and Rivers, Manitoba. Brent operated a mixed livestock and grain farm his whole life until 1989, when at 32 years of age, he sold the farm due to the struggling farming economy. From 1990 until 1997, Brent pioneered the beneficial utilization of wastestream organics by performing contracting work for cities/industries across Western Canada, de-sludging sewage lagoons and utilizing the nutrient rich biosolids as a source of organic fertilizer on farmland. In 1997, Brent established BRENT HANSEN ENVIRONMENTAL (BHE) to focus on the promotion of environmental opportunities and initiatives within his home province of Manitoba. His focus was to use his experience and expertise in developing contractors for performing niche municipal environmental waste management contracting works. In 1998, BHE expanded his services to acting as an environmental consultant in providing project management and professional liaison services between Manitoba Communities and the Manitoba Department of Environment. In 1999, BHE formed a professional affiliation with Curtis Navratil, P. Eng., of LW DIAMOND ENVIRONMENTAL SERVICES INC. for the performance of environmental licensing, approvals, Phase 1 ESA, and for the continuing development and implementation of organic recycling initiatives and projects for Cities / Industry across Western Canada. Brent Hansen Environmental (BHE), alone and in conjunction with LW Diamond (LWD), have designed, implemented and/or performed numerous organic residual recycling projects throughout Western Canada since 1990, including the Cities of Brandon, Selkirk, Portage La Prairie, Winnipeg, Regina, Swift Current, Humboldt, Saskatoon, Lloydminister, Edmonton and the Greater Vancouver Regional District. BHE and LWD are experienced in performing Phase 1 Environmental Site Assessments (ESA), with providing liaison with Provincial regulatory departments in obtaining environmental licenses, permits or approvals as well as working with Provincial agencies in establishing industry guidelines, standards and regulations for new innovative organics recycling projects. Complementing BHE and LWD’s professional and practical experience is their extensive and diverse agricultural background. In 2000, BHE commercially developed the Recycled Rubber Surfacing Company of Manitoba Ltd., utilizing ground recycled rubber crumb and a cold pour in place technology for providing a safety conscious and environmentally friendly surfacing alternative in playgrounds, and for rehabilitating deteriorated cement and asphalt surfaces. In 2001, BHE established Airfield Organics Ltd., a Regional Organics Composting Facility; composting straw, wood chips and hog manure produced from a hog plant. BHE also helped initiate a City of Winnipeg Co-Composting Pilot Study using de-watered biosolids and ground wood wasted diverted from the construction and demolition waste stream at Brady Landfill. In 2002, BHE secured and performed the first of a two year de-watered Lime Residuals to Farmland Contract, which was the accumulation of three previous years of project trial done in association with LWD, to design, demonstrate and prove viability and soil benefits. BHE and a group including Darci Clark Community Consulting and the Marquis Project initiated a community public education program that developed the two initiatives COMPOSTING 101 in 2002 and GREEN LIVING 101 in 2003. In 2003, BHE, acting as co-chair of Westman Recycling Council Inc. (WRC), a non-profit volunteer board, proudly opened a new $3.7 million Material Recovery Facility (MRF). The City residents are placing their waste in three segregated bags for pickup; blue bags for recyclables, clear for grass and leaves and black for other wastes. In 2003 BHE established LBJV Incorporated with Larry Culver for Technology & Project Development and General Contracting Management for Lime Sludge and Fly Ash Initiatives. In 2003 BHE also established a professional working association with Curtis Cloud of Clear Sky Consulting to provide Aboriginal Consulting and Project Management for Hazardous Materials and Third Party Monitoring & Professional Sampling. In 2004, BHE legally established Magment International Inc. with Larry Culver and Leonard/Julia Moon, technology founders and proprietors. MAGMENT is a magnesium phosphate ceramic cement. In 2004, BHE established the website www.composting.ca In 2005, BHE became the marketing dealer for Sittler Compost Turners for Manitoba and Saskatchewan.
